In the mid-nineties, it became widely known (among those who were interested in the technology arena) that is was fairly easy to activate a phones internal microphone and use it to listen to surrounding conversations. This was a technique used by law enforcement for many years and with the popularity of cellphones, this became a very common tool for those in law enforcement and criminals alike.
The technology has been in existence for a LONG time however it became “public” following the request made by Assistant U.S. Attorney Jonathan Kolodner in September 2003 while engaged in the investigation of Messrs. Ardito and Peluso, suspected mobsters. His request was approved by U.S. District Judge Barbara Jones in a series of orders in 2003 and 2004.
Later following the prosecution of these individuals (United States v. Tomero, 2006 U.S. Dist. LEXIS 85560 (S.D. N.Y. November 27, 2006) some in the elite technology media became aware of this case.
The wiretaps and spying I have discussed above were used LEGALLY. The violent assaults I have endured for NINE YEARS ARE ILLEGAL. Daily my calls are listened to, my microphone activated and this vile money whore Eve Sharon Moore aka Lisa Vasquez of the “Blackwomenblowthetrumpet” blog among so many others which she owns and operates uses the language of fellow on line vagrants to display her illegally obtained information about me.

U.S. District Judge Lewis Kaplan in the Tomero case stated that the eavesdropping technique “functioned whether the phone was powered on or off.” Most handsets can’t be fully powered down without removing the battery; for instance, some Nokia models will wake up when turned off if an alarm is set.
Also note that The U.S. Commerce Department’s security office warns that “a cellular telephone can be turned into a microphone and transmitter for the purpose of listening to conversations in the vicinity of the phone.”
An article in the Financial Times in 2005 revealed that mobile providers can “remotely install a piece of software on to any handset, without the owner’s knowledge, which will activate the microphone even when its owner is not making a call.”
Also remember that around 1994, The Communications Assistance for Law Enforcement Act (CALEA) required land line and cellular providers to build their networks to accommodate a variety of wiretaps, and established exacting technical standards regarding what information about a phone call or voice message had to be provided to law enforcement when subpoenaed.

They are afraid and will hold on to any site you visit because they know they will ultimately be exposed.
A popular American cryptographer, computer security specialist, and writer is the author of several books on computer security cryptography and , recently stated that “The Internet is the most complex machine ever built,” People need to be aware of the dangers online and guard against them.
